MChain,
Yeah, it can be hard to determine what exactly "normal" is for you when you have taken medicine through formative years. That being said, I try to remember that development occurs through life - and definitely through the 20s. We're definitely not closed to growth at 20 or even 30. I think it should be possible to find a new normal, post-medicine.
I have fuzzy cognition with some frequency, generally low spirits and the same kind of negative thought and general social anxiety that you speak of. I have also been depressed for quite some time, extending back to when I was taking medicine. The thing is, Medicine is no cure. No Cure. And when you pull the SSRI rug out, the true poignancy of the underlying problems that were driving the depression or anxiety can really be felt. Some of this manifests as mental-fog or blunted affect too.
Right now, I am experimenting with different natural supplements, particularly fish oil and St. John's Wort, and am going to see where that goes. I am also reading "Magnificent Mind at Any Age."
I have found the book "Undoing Depression," and therapy to be of some help, post medicine. I know you did not ask for advice, but I figured I would put this out there.
Best of luck to you!
