I have posted my long term use of SSRI's, and eventual hypersensitivity to them, and other AD's, elsewhere on this site. In summary, after successful use of zoloft for 8 years to treat my depression, it stopped working and I experienced a variety of side effects (even paradoxical side effects) cycling onto every other AD out there, from A to Z.
My latest hypersensitive reaction is as follows:
I tried a very small dose of 5-HTP and it made me depressed. However, it also greatly improved my appearance. My skin, which is somewhat stiff and dry, became more soft and supple and my hair, which is dry and brittle, became much more healthy looking. (I attribute it to long term SSRI use.) It seemed my skin and hair retained oils that it normally doesn't retain.
What does that say about me and what is happening biochemically?
