I am on Cytomel despite never having abnormal thyroid results. I asked my psychiatrist if I could supplement w/ thyroid medication several years ago, and have tried a few different kinds (Synthroid and its generic; Armour; Cytomel -- not sure if I recall any difference. I'm thinking of going back to generic Synthroid because it has a lower copay for me, and I'm poor).
I think it's reasonable to try if a few first- and second-line med trials don't cut it for you. My psychiatrist doesn't believe highly in it, but has been willing to Rx it for me since I asked and had been pretty treatment-resistant.I should add/clarify that I've never tried lithium nor Lamictal, though.
