Well, though it is not a good med for many of us, Lexapro probably qualifies. In metastudies it actually outperforms all other meds and with fewer side effects. Obviously that is not the pattern with a difficult patient population like pbabble. But in the average world, Lexapro qualifies as a winner, looking at objectively and statistically. Personally for me it sucked though.
The two unsung heroes on the planet in my opinion, and as you said, not from USA, are Milnacipran and Amisulpride.
I don't know the laws and procedures that dictate how the FDA does business. But they need to be scrapped and re-written from scratch. I mean, if a med has been used my millions of people in other countries, it has been around for at least two decades, it has a large body of scientific study, several placebo and competitor controlled studies, and a safety record at least as good or better than anything else of the FDA, well, it should just be outright approved in a matter of weeks, not months or years.
