No, that's extrapolating, I didn't say that Valium is a weak drug, it has several metabolites, one of which is Restoril. It was just a personal opinion that Restoril isn't a terribly strong sleep medication especially taking it for an extended period of time. But then again, I'm more used to benzodiazepines.
The reason you can cut the doses so easily is probably because you've taken it so long and counter-intuitively you don't have withdrawal or not noticeable amounts, I can't say.
For the benzodiazepine-naive Valium is not a weak agent; it can be given pre-operative and other situations but usually Versed is used which is about the strongest, probably also because there its an IV agent.
