Starting up Nortriptyline, wearing off Remeron

Posted by hansi555 on December 11, 2008, at 13:28:14

Hi all

Unipolar depression, broke out 11 months ago. First on high dosage Remeron alone, worked half of the time, then on a Lexapro/Remeron combo for some months and it only worked so-so.

So since the last 2 months I have been adding Nortriptyline, slowly raising it to now 85 mg (35 in the morning and 50 mg at bed time).
Remeron has been reduced from 35 mg to now only 17,5 mg (bed time)- no problem with sleeping.
Lexapro is unchanged 20 mg (morning).
The last week or so I have become increasingly tired, both in the evening and during the day. When I reach evening I actually feel less tired.

I am lowering the Remeron dosage real slow, 2,5 mg per week or so.

I am wondering which of these 3 drugs are most likely to cause the tiredness?

I know people/docs say that low dose Remeron is making you more tired as the anti-hestamine effect is stronger at lower doses but does this last all day long the following day?
How bad is Nortriptyline when it comes to tiredness? Lexapro?

Any views/ideas most welcome...
