> Ive been taking Fluvoximine for a few weeks and its good. But I take it at night and get horrible insomnia. I get sedated, but I cannot go to sleep. I roll around in bed for hours and hours.
Is this for anxiety or depression, because depression itself can cause sleep disturbances or disorders, and vice versa that not enough REM sleep can cause other issues.
When I can't sleep I also tend to toss around which probably just increases the frustration, its hard to stay still.Maybe at that point you could do something not very stimulating (you don't want anything to stimulate you more) like relaxation tapes or listening to "dream" soothing sound devices?
Do you take any naps during the day, because that could take away some of the sleep at night? And do you do stimulating things like using the computer or even watching TV to some extent just before bed, that sometimes can make things worse. I assume you don't use too much caffeine?
Exercise of some sort at least several hours before bedtime can improve your chances of sleep also.
Id take some Trazodone, but I hate the increased appetite (it brings me so much stress).Yes, it definitely can do that, especially just after taking it and in the morning.
Melatonin makes me depressed
Its a hormone, it can make some people depressed I suppose if they're sensitive to the HPA axis.
So I wouldn't suggest Ramelteon then.and Unisom is like that too.
Did you taking the diphenhydramine (Benadryl) formation of Unisom or the doxylamine succinate?
I happen to use the latter which I use at a fairly high dose (75mg) because I have run out of possible options.
Doxylamine is a little different and a bit stronger than diphenhydramine.
But there is another possibility, you could take 10mg of amitriptyline (stronger) or doxepin at night, I wouldn't exceed that, and yes, its possible to make you hungry too, but I'm not sure as much as Trazodone.
Its also possible that one of these TCAs could improve depression as well as sleep even at that low a dose, as an add on.
I wanted to try gabapentin, but I cant find my old perscription.
I take gabapentin for other reasons but only at the beginning would it have ever had any aspect on sleep. For me, the grogginess and slurred speech and whatnot quickly disappeared. But some people swear by it. There's also Lyrica, which is a bit stronger than Neurontin.
If you want to do the Neurontin, why not ask your doctor for a new prescription ?
> Has anyone ever had this insomnia?? Its pretty stressful.
I've had pretty bad insomnia for years. I may get a sleep study because there could be something there too, I tend to snore and now I apparently talk in my sleep, especially when I am about to wake up.
> I dont understand, people respond to medicines great, I get troublesome side effects on every single one..
I'm pretty sensitive to medications -- everyone is different on here remember, we all have ever so slightly different DNA, biochemical imbalances, medicine combinations, its important to take that into consideration. I have odd side effects from a select few, including APs, but I also am a fast metabolizer and require higher doses on others.
> Seroquel works but antipshycotics make me feel super strange. Does anyone feel really wierd when taking APs too? They can be blunting, which could explain that "wierd" feeling of having your affect, more or less your mood and how you feel, flattened -- that is their job actually for severe cases of schizophrenia and the like
I don't know, I am on Seroquel for an offlabel reason differently, and it doesnt provide full sleep anymore, hence other agents. Does it contribute to feeling disconnected or is it necessary to prevent that going further -- its hard to say?
> Benzos could help but are depressants. I took Klonopin for a year or so at one point and I cant really remember ALOT of it.
Benzodiazepines can be amnesic, depending on how much you were taking. They're not necessarily depressants, Xanax appears to people to be a slight antidepressant just because of the quick uptake and being slightly stimulating. I wouldn't suggest getting on Xanax 24/7 though, short term benzodiazepines can be more habituating over time, for some people.
As for taking Luvox in the morning, that's possible, although it's often dosed twice daily, if you're not taking a lot of it, you could do that I believe. If you're on a high dose, maybe the bulk of it in the morning and the rest in the early evening.
It's usually one of the two "sleepy" SSRIs, although Paxil is more -- but then again everyone is different so your response could be slightly different from the average.
