I agree you are on the right track with the dopamine theory. I havnt tried those yet mainly because docs are stubborn to give them, but I want to.

I would look into selegiline as that is actually used as an antidepressant. Low dose is selective for dopamine. It is a safe drug as well. Mirapex and requip are other good possibilities to try. In theory, dopamine is responsible for that sense of drive and reward.

But convincing your average doc of that is another story. You need to find someone who is really in the know.

That said, that doesnt mean that SSRIs wont work for you. Nothing is black and white and SSRIs can work for your type of depression.
