I guess I have a couple of questions about medication trials, and I hope you'll forgive me -- I know, from my own experience, how upsetting it can be when someone doesn't seem to believe that you've really tried everything, and I'm not suggesting that at all. I just hate hearing the pain in your posts, and want to try to offer hope. (I'm severely treatment resistant, and respond best to a drug not known as an AD. It took years to find that out, and I was at the point my doctor was unsure whether to let me leave his office the day he prescribed it. And two days later, I was happy as a clam at high tide -- something I hadn't experienced in YEARS.) (And let me tell you, the first thing I saw was the enormous mountain in front of me of everything I will need to do to try to get my life back. And intimidating as that was, it didn't seem overwhelming to me. Remission is a revelation to me.)

So, a couple of questions, if you feel up to answering them.

The first question is simple: how many psychopharmacologists have you seen for this? Sometimes a new set of eyes makes a difference; sometimes a doctor gets into a particular comfort zone and won't stretch beyond it; and sometimes the nicest doctors aren't the best doctors. If you haven't worked with many, it might be worth getting a second or third, or tenth, opinion. And if you have already done that, forgive me for asking.

Second, have you been checked stem to stern physically? Recently? I worked with horses for years, and when a behavior problem came up, the first thing we'd do was get a thorough vet check. I figure that's the least we can do for ourselves, right? Also, if it hasn't been recent, running through it again is worth it Something which was in its earliest stages when you tried before might now be findable, in case this isn't depression.

Have you tried many non-ADs? Provigil is good for some people, Deplin or Metan X for others, and I'm sure there are those out there who respond best to other non-ADs. (In fact, if it's physical, something like antibiotics or prednisone might help. Who knows?)

Speaking of steroids, I don't know why this is coming into my head, but my little monkey brain keeps saying "dexamethasone suppression test..." I have no idea what the relevance is right now, but I think there actually is some major significance -- I'm just too tired to think of it...

How long has it been this bad? I'm very sorry it is, and I wish you relief.

Best of luck to you.
