Phillipa, have you heard about LDN? (Low dose naltrexone) I think this was invented just for you.
Cheap, tiny doses, surprising success rates over a wide variety of diseases, including yours such as hashimotos and chronic fatigue, with improvements in mood and anxiety being common side effects. Side effect risk is very low at these tiny doses.
Admittedly most reports are anecdotal, but there are thousands of them. About 89% report some type of improvement, with miraculous things happening in a smaller percentage. From what I have seen reading other forums, some of the more common improvements usually experienced fairly quickly are in energy and feelings of well being.
For hashimotos there is a warning that LDN can quickly put it into regression, requiring a close eye on adjusting thyroid meds to lower doses since you don't need them as much or at all.
A regular dose of naltrexone is 50mg. But for LDN to work, the dose range is only 1.5mg to 4.5mg.
Check out lowdosenaltrexone.org, and also type LDN in a google search box.
Once you have studied it I have no doubt you will see how it fits your case. But I can already predict you will have a hard time gettinig a doctor to prescribe it for you. Which is ridiculous considering the doses are so tiny. Anyway, I hope to be wrong. I want one of your doctors to surprise me and pull out their prescriptioin pad for 1.5mg naltrexone caps from a compounding pharmacy, with any common filler except calcium carbonate (it must be specified to be fast release).
Give it a look.
