Pristiq is desvenlafaxine, the active metabolite of Effexor (venlafaxine). There is some variation in how people metabolize venlafaxine to desvenlafaxine. This variation is not an issue with Pristiq. So theoretically you might do better on Pristiq than Effexor.

What dose of Lamictal and Wellbutrin are you taking?

> Has anyone here tried Pristiq yet? Furthermore, has anyonw who has been on Effexor XR tried Pristiq? Pristiq is supposed to be the more 'pure' form of Effexor, so I'm wondering if there are less side effects associated with this drug as compared to Effexor. With Effexor XR, I had uncontrollable sweating, even in the coldest part of winter. I also had severe headaches at higher doses, and my personal favorite, weight gain. Oh, did I forget to mention erectile disfuntion? Not good for relationships. I currently take Wellbutrin XL and Lamictal and I've had subtle results, but I think I could do better. It's so disappointing to me that there hasn't been anything new over the past decade or two that could really help. I would consider myself someone with refractory depression, and as you can imagine, it's very frustrating.
