In reply to hey.. just a question, posted by sam K on October 9, 2008, at 11:45:02

As you mention in your post, changing medicines can create a mess. You don't know what works. It's best to give a treatment regimen at least a 6 week trial before making changes. Perhaps try the Lithium and Lamictal combination and see how you do. You may not even need to add an antidepressant.

> Life is messy right now. Ive created a huge mess upon myself by consistantly changing medicines. Tomorrow I have an appointment and supposedly we have a plan to add lithium to my Lamictal, then add an antidepressant. This worries me, antidepressants have done nothing except side effects and given me very bad anxiety. I am in a slump because I have an eating disorder, so I its VERY VERY hard to take one thats sedating WITH weight gain.
> Well, my mother is a general MD, and my whole life Ive been able to get samples of medicines. Once my mental illness started showing Ive been able to get samples of differnt psych meds. This is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I have samples of alot of drugs, so Ive tried most AD's and anything thats new.
> My doctor knows this and is very paitent with me. I jump from one thing to the next, combinations, they never work. He never knows whats going on. (I dont think he will fire me, we have a very great friendship and he has much desire to help me) I wont count on that though.
> So Ill get to it already, Ive been taking Seroquel samples with Lamictal lately and it does help with the crazyness Lamictal gives me. Lamictal makes me paranoid at night, somewhat gives me hallucinations. Sounds terrible.. but it really has helped me.
> Man Im getting off track, hehe, well everytime I take an antipsychotic I have trouble talking to people I dont know. I feel strange. Disoriented. I feel bizzare when I say things. I find it interesting.. because Ive never heard someone else say this.
> Just a theory of mine, which may not be accurate, is that dopamine has to do with socializing and those meds tend to block those receptors.
