Im using klonapin (clonazepam) for my social phobia. I find it's really great stuff. I'm also in Australia. I wouldn't worry too much about it not being on the pbs as it is very cheap stuff. it costs around $9 for a bottle of 100 .5mg tablets. I found .5mg to be a decent strength in itself for me(some days i only need .25mg), 1mg seems to be the more usual dose though for social phobia. 2mg knocks me out.
