New published paper (Sept 18) about Agomelatine vs Paroxetine -FOR SEX- .. If I interpret that well, more Agomelatine = less SD. At 50 mg the SD rate falls UNDER baseline (placebo) which means it's pretty much sex neutral ? Does the improvement at higher dose means that Agomelatine improve sex by lowering the depression symptoms ?
Not sure because it doesn't exclude non-responders and so Agomelatine could sexually help even some non-responders, making it (very) slightly pro-sexual. Is that ackward for a serotonergic drug ? No. Because 5-HT2c antagonism has a positive effect on dopaminergic (pro-dopaminergic transmission). It enhances the levels of dopamine and noradrenaline in frontal cortex, for example. (btw, that means it should also be pro-motivation)/\/\arty
