Is this true about Remeron at higher dosages?

Posted by BRC on September 2, 2008, at 14:36:52

Hi,

I met with my new p-doc last week b/c my old p-doc of many years finally retired.

The new p-doc went over my meds with me and of course asked how they were doing. The only thing I mentioned was that the Remeron I had been taking for many years now had caused me to gain about 20 lbs.

The new p-doc then fired back and stated that "Remeron in higher dosages does not seem to cause as much weight gain than the lower doses". I take 30mg each night. She told me to consider raising the dose.

So, is this true? Has anyone had any exerience with higher dosages and decreased appetite?

I basically use the Remeron b/c it makes me sleep like a baby. But at higher dosages does it cause more sedation or less?

I have read where the max. daily dose is 60mg. Anyone taking this amount daily?

Just wanted some actual opinions of people (like me) who actually have to take these meds.

Hope to hear your responses.

BRC.
