I've had decent experience with adderall, wellbutrin sr, a few different SSRI's, buspar, klonopin, ativan, and xanax and nardil.
some of them help moderately, but not enough to get my life on track. I am still essentially housebound [without someone with me] with a few exceptions.
FOR DEPRESSION
ssri's seemed to do little if anything.
wellbutrin was amazing the first week, aftterwards it helped but nothing like that.
nardil seemed to be starting to help but the side effects were by far the worst I have ever had on any medication ever-- and I've had a seizure induced on wellbutrin, to put that into perspective.
adderall helped. unfortunately, it did not feel right to be taking daily. I can't put this into words exactly. my body felt so much that it was into overdrive that I needed a break from it after a few days, every time. beyond that, it just didn't feel healthy to have my body amped up 24/7. taking it daily didn't set well with me.
FOR ANXIETY
adderall seems to make me a little social and more motivated to get out and do things to a small extent. wellbutrin too, but again to a small extent. benzo's help, definitely, but I simply cannot take them on a daily basis. small doses lead to extreme problems cognitively and horrible amnesia.
WRAP UP
basically, there are meds that work for me a tiny bit but not enough to function well. there are also meds that allow me to function better than that, but I can't take at all or can't take daily because of the side effects.
I would kill to have my first week on wellbutrin back. or to have benzos without the side effects. but I doubt I'm ever going to find anything like either.
