Lithium augmentation vs. stabilization dose

Posted by uncouth on August 3, 2008, at 17:01:18

Hi,

I'm currently starting up a nardil trial, and while I realize that nardil seems to take an especially long time to kick in, and to titrate up to a reasonable dose (i'm currently at 45mg, weigh 85 kg), and my pdoc seems to be especially conservative regarding dose escalations, I'm wondering about lithium.

I have already been on 450 lithium and am curious as to the appropriate dose for a/d augmentation for those who are taking lithium along with an a/d. I have been on lithium a long time ago at 600mg and felt a bit spacy, but am not sure if that was due to lithium or just the terrible depression i was in.

What are typical augmentation doses. I know it is all about serum level, but any estimations given my weight of 190 lbs (male)? At what point does it go from enhancing a/d effect to actually "stabilizing' and perhaps reducing mood elevation i am looking for? Is 450 a high dose for a/d augmentation or low?

Thanks
