A 1989 study by Amsterdam & Berwish found that four out of seven participants with treatment-refractory depression were completely responsive to Parnate in doses ranging from 90-130 mg/day.
So, even though I would give 40 mg/day more time to see how it works, I wouldn't rule out trying a higher dose of the medication if 40 mg doesn't work out.
