TIaneptine and dosage

Posted by satsumas on July 18, 2008, at 7:47:51

Well another tianeptine question from me.

As I'm considering trying it against the alternatives of an MAOI or Pristiq at this point, to lift me out of a deep depression, I'm curious about tianeptine's dose response.

Typical dose seems 3-4 tabs a day, and most of the responses on thsi board and elsewhere say tianeptine is a relatively mild a/d, not on the level of an MAOI or a powerful SNRI like Efx.

My question is, does tianeptine have a similar dose-response dynamic? I haven't heard much about it pushing people into hyopmania, and Effexor and Emsam certainly have pushed me to the edges of that in the past. I find that all my symptoms really only disappear when I'm at that edge.

But tianeptine seems to be more "stabaliising", per its name, so if i'm wondering if doubling or even tripling the dose typically leads to a hypomanic like response in anyone's experience. As that is kinda what im looking for -- push to hypomania, then back off a bit.

Any insights much appreciated.
