Yes and its BAD. A very BAD idea. That is unless you're on 25 or 50mg for sleep or something. I've been there, scared of side effects and other reasons, 3 times. But like they say, I suppose everyone is different.
If you're on a dose like 200 or 400, and you've been on it for a while, you must taper down slowly or two or three things could happen:
a) you have a massive spike in anxiety
b) you have a massive spike in anxiety and you have to go to the hospital
c) you have withdrawal dyskinesia.
WD, withdrawal dyskinesia is almost completely a temporary phenomenon, but you don't want to be going through tremors and every type of EPS imaginable for the next few weeks.
Not trying to sound polemic, but its a fact of APs. The only reason for halting would be an AIMS test that began to show something convincingly Tardive or NMS syndrome.
