dehydration/orthostatic

Posted by ryan_321 on July 1, 2008, at 18:47:01

I wasn't sleeping well last night so I went to the kitchen for a drink. I fainted, fell face first onto my tile floor, split my lip open, and broke my front tooth off.

I've been taking Seroquel for 4 years and haven't increased the dose in a long time so I thought it was odd that I was feeling so orthostatic... I had that odd nausea and light headed feeling.

I went to the ER and the doc said I was very dehydrated. The ER doc said the dehydration could make the fall in blood pressure worse, but he also said that dehydration may have increased the "relative concentration" of Seroquel in my blood.

So I got a liter of IV fluids and 4 stitches in my lip and hopefully my dentist can make me a new tooth this week!

Just a reminder: If you take a med that affects alpha-andrenergic receptors, be careful about getting up too quickly--especially if you're not feeling well!
