> Before I say anything about ECT, let me ask if you've tried rTMS? My doctor was pretty excited about it, said it was a good option, and he had been sending his patients to Canada to have it done for a longish time before it was approved.
My psychiatrist happens to be one of only TWO shrinks in the US that currently offer rTMS on a non-experimental basis. He admitted that it had a less than 40% success rate and that it would cost me between $1,500 - $4,000.I'm thinking that I'm going to go with the ECT (which my psychiatrist also recommended), which is [generally accepted to be] 80% effective and 100% covered by my insurance. I just have to find someone who will keep me during the treatments because I live alone and they won't do ECT unless you have someone to take care of you. :( Most insurance, including mine, won't cover inpatient ECT treatment.
