What's the link between adderall and depression?
I'm taking a small dose of adderall in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon. I've been taking it apx 6-8 weeks now. The first few weeks, I was feeling great. Now, I'm having problems. I've noticed that during the day, I generally feel okay and not depressed (at least not significantly). But in the evenings, after I leave work and go home around 5pm, I start feeling much worse. For a few weeks it was a milder depression (noticable, but manageable). The last week or so, it has become worse. I'm starting to have urges to self-injure again which I havent had in probably a year (aside from a reaction to another med that stopped when I got off the med). I'm having suicidal thoughts again. I've begun restricting food intake this week (I've never been diagnosed with anorexia, but have danced on the edge of it). Sometimes I feel depressed enough that it's impacting my ability to function. I've been hospitalized for depression in the past (most recently apx 14mos ago) and just recently, for the first time in a year, have felt like I'm on the path to finding myself there again. This feels "familar", in a bad way.
I guess my question is, could this be related to the adderall? It doesnt seem like it, but who knows. If it is, it's hitting when the adderall wears off. Is depression ever a withdrawl symptom of adderall? If it is caused by the adderall, how long would I need to stay off of it to see an improvement?
A seperate question - I havent responded in the past to any of the SSRIs or emsam and am unable to take the tricyclic ADs due to the effect on blood pressure. I've also done wellbutrin and effexor, neither of which I was able to tolerate. Any suggestions?
