I personally like a PDOC that is fair, and listens to information that I provide about myself, and understands that I am neurotic. My PDOC seems pretty good with this. He is laid back and kind. I can't handle terse doctors that are rude and don't listen to me. Case in point, there is a nurse in the office that I prefer not to deal with of the two nurses there... only the other one because she "gets me" and works well with dealing with me, and vice versa.
I think the question comes down to what you are asking of your doctor too. Are you asking them to prescribe you medications, but are then not taking them as prescribed? Some folks on benzos do this... then get mad at their doctors when they can't have "more." Are you asking them to contradict what they believe to be the best treatment for you based upon their expertise? You know your body and mind best, but they also have a body of knowledge that they can offer you.
I think if there can be a "meeting of the minds" and an understanding of one's personality quirks, neurochemical issues, etc, then a great doctor-patient relationship can be formed. Otherwise, it's like oil and water.
Finally, keep in mind. If you have private insurance, you pay for the services, and may pick a new doctor and fire the other doctor your needs are not being met.

> I once heard on this board that someone actually kicked them out of thier office, because that stubborn doctor, well we know alot of doctor have their own stubborn rules, and some medications they will not prescribe even when there is nothing else. Then they fire you.
