I also have potential TDy in my lower and upper trunk muscles from Zyprexa after one months use but there was stiffness (in the end) while using it in the first place, covered up by Amantadine and various other things, which is used for EPS.
It was my choice to switch because Seroquel was becoming uncomfortable for various reasons. I have to go past it and I do express anger my doctor and the world at times -- its natural. I understand.
But what can you do? This is what we have in 2008. The Seroquel has recovered (its one of many palleatives -- dystonia has more palleatives) up most of the TDy, if that is what it is. Some sort of dystonia. AGAIN, I am extremely sensitive to most all neuroleptics but I eat some antidepressants and other compounds (high metabolizer) for lunch.
The oral tic is almost entirely psychologically stimulated, it is uncomfortable and I can understand because it has undermined my confidence level which needs to be up there.
That all being said --- we're not comparing apples and bananas here, but I do have to emerge again with a life. I still take Seroquel because I have to for catch-22 reasons, it organizes my thoughts -- this though for me is not a psychotic disorder, its a very complicated somatiform condition..
But I wanted to reference again what is currently considered the risks for TD from typicals and atypicals, which I did a while back and my doctor basically believes the same thing. Doesn't mean I'm not still fatalistic or concerned about taking the medication.
http://www.leeheymd.com/medmemo/fall04.htmlBasically Seroquel/Zyprexa are about 0.1% per year to an unknown range over life under 5% and the SAME can be said for Geodon, 0.5% because it admittedly is a stronger medication.
There have only reliably been reports of TD from monotherapy on Risperdal at least from what I've heard. It is much more powerful and I would not recommend it as much especially at high doses, but again, I have an affective disorder, not a schizophreniform disorder which means I'm more sensitive.
I hope this helps.
