The point of the article is not that the use of a nasal spray containing oxytocin should be used as a treatment for social phobia or anxiety, but that the discovery of the hormone oxytocin may be involved in the regulation of our amygdala, and this could lead to the development of drugs which target this hormone thus improving the regulation of amygdala activity.
Forget about the nasal spray. It just led to the hypothesis which will spur research on this issue.
