You can do a straight across trade to cymbalta with no weaning or wash out or anything. It has been done clinically, to see if it could be done, and those abstracts are available at pubmed. Just go there and do a search. Not sure what to type in the search box to narrow it down, but even if you just look at all of them you'll find it.

You will have new side effects, but according to the clinical studies of straight across switches to cymbalta, side effects were much less for those switching than for those starting brand new.

The shakey panicy stuff at waking is something I am real familiar with. All SSRIs did that to me, sooner or later. In experimenting with other meds, I found the ones that eliminated that had a norepinephrine component. Cymbalta had me waking up calmer, though I never got higher than 10mg and it was only for a couple weeks. The AD Milnacipran (European mailorder) completely eliminated that waking anxiety. Nortriptyline at just 10mg did also. With all of them though, there was actually an increase in the waking anxiety for the first 2 or 3 days and then it was just gone.

Mileage varies, so my experience might not mean it will happen with you, but thought I would share. SSRIs do to me what you are feeling, and SNRIs don't, and actually prevent it.
