> Hey, Robert - I babble-mailed you some info that I hope will help you. I only take 100 mg of ixel which I understand to be more beneficial to depression. Those with fibromyalgia and pain take 200mg. After 100 mg there is no increase in mood elevation but there apparently is increase in pain relief.

Too early to say how it's going, but so far so good, I don't really feel the effects of not taking it until Sunday, which is a great day to lay around sleeping and doing nothing, whereas if I'd taken the Provigil as usual I'd be go go go like always.

> I'll just add for those who are interested. While taking the Ixel/Provigil I often feel those chills on my arms or legs like whoo! I always thought it was the Provigil, after all, it's a stimulant. But after a few weekends of no Provigil, I know now it's the Ixel! Have I mentioned how much i love Ixel? And Provigil? But Robert, I'm just assuming you are of the male species, be aware that there may be some urinary issues with the Ixel that seem to affect men but not women. Hope you can avoid them. I have experienced no problem with weight gain or sexual dysfunction on ixel, both of which were problems for me with lexapro and effexor. Good luck, man! Thanks a lot atmlady :-)!
I owe you one (glass of modafinil or something ;-)).
(Also thanks for your babble-mail !)
Good info about the dose ... I will look into that further.
In an article somewhere I read modafinil apparently doesn't interfere with sleep and sleep pattern.
After a few days of use I get exhausted by the end of the afternoon plus have trouble going to sleep; when I use it on a easy day (in weekends)I have no trouble at all sleeping and even get some extra sleep.
Why it is so difficult to get to sleep after a few days on mod. puzzles me ...
Like you mention I too skip one or two days on friday and in the weekend (it is like the effect subsides in *days* rather than say 12-15 hours).
What was a nice surprise: on easygoing days I can exercise and feel satisfaction from the exercise afterwards (which I normally don't experience; exercise just makes me exhausted. Still did this to keep muscles etc in reasonable shape ;)).
I apparently need to build up some energy (I think because my physical energy gets drained by pain) for physical exercise; I am too exhausted normally after work to e.g. run.
I don't run excessive lots btw... nowadays about 30-35 mins. of slow/moderate running (and some workouts).
Maybe the exercise (now on provigil) is one of the reasons of sleeping so well (normally it doesn't: feeling tired but not able to sleep ... strange huh ?).
Good to hear that you fare so well on Ixel !
But let me tell you you can also get shivers from
provigil :-) .
I want to discuss going of prozac and starting Ixel at my next visit to the paindoc.
Meanwhile (before drawing to any conclusion) I want to stabilize on provigil and I want to take some time for that.
I cut down half on ultram (taking 50 mgs a day at this point).
I want to slowly taper off to see if it is still giving me benefits.
Mentally I feel much more energetic and cheerfull now with the provigil; on the physical level I still have big trouble and should consider what to do.
Going up on prozac (taking a minute 15 mgs a day now) shouldn't help I guess; NE action is the best choice.
My paindoc said of prozac no analgesic properties are know.
Luckily I had no trouble with nortrilen (nortriptyline) regarding urinary problems.
I read it could be mainly an issue with men with enlarged prostates (which I don't have).
When I have come up with some kind of conclusion or when I have spectacular news I will report :-)!Take care, good luck with your classes and your photography (and the rest of course).
