In reply to Doc gave me a bigger does today of Prozac, posted by Happyflower on April 18, 2008, at 14:35:30
Why does your doc have you on a split dose? One of the perks of prozac is that it has a long half life, i.e. it stays in your bloodstream a long time. Spilt does are good for things like Ritalin which has a short half life and so you need to take it often to keep your blood levels up. You shouldn't have to do that with prozac.
That said, I wanted to share my experiences on prozac. I took up to 50 or 60 mg at one point. It actually turned out that higher doses made me more depressed. My pdoc said that can happen sometimes with prozac. I don't know how common that is, but it is something to be aware of.
I know that some people like to combine prozac with welbutrin. It gives it an extra kick and WB offsets some of the side effects of prozac.
I hope something in there is helpful. Good luck!
Best,
EE
