Metformin for weight-gain caused by Zyprexa

Posted by jms600 on March 29, 2008, at 12:53:22

Hi everyone

I'm thinking of trying Metformin to help me lose the weight (or at least some of it) that I've gained while being on Zyprexa. Over the last four months I've been on Remeron, Seroquel, and now Zyprexa - and they have all made their contributions to my weight. I'm now almost two stone heavier than I was four months ago.

As far as I'm aware I am not diabetic.

I'm making regular visits to my local gym, but I'm still not losing any noticeable body fat.

Has anyone had any success with Metformin? Is it safe to take with Lexapro (20mg per day) and Zyprexa (5mg per day)??

Also, I enjoy the odd glass of beer - is Metformin safe to take with alcohol?

Thanks!
