In reply to Nardil Problem? Hypomania or just feeling better, posted by JohnSky on March 10, 2008, at 16:54:54
Hi John,
The first time I started Nardil about 11 years ago, I had a touch of hypomania/euphoria. This to will pass. Don't let your DOC talk you out of Nardil because of this side effect. It passes quickly. Be careful while going through it though. Try not to make any major life changes or risk a lot of money while in this hypomanic state.
Enjoy it while it lasts. When it goes away it is not poop out, and it will go away.
Be Well,
Jedi

> I have been taking 60 mg of nardil for some time now and in the last few days I started to feel better. About a week ago I felt a little better and my suicidal thoughts slipped away. The problem is I feel alot of energy and seem to be racing some and talking fast at times. I am not in manic mode as I know what that is as that happened to me in the first time in my life at age 48 when I took Effexor... it caused it big time as set me way back. I not out buying things or taking on the world but do feel I'm running fast. I think it is part I am feeling better and just trying to catch up too fast on why I've missed by being severly depressed for the last two years. I am also on 2000mg of depakote so if mania is happening that should could contain the fire. I plan to talk to my doc tonight. Either way I need to just slow down... I am trying to do too much now that I feel better... but I am scared I might be in hypomania. Thoughts? Anyone have Nardil cause mania or hypomania in them. I took Nardil 25 years ago and never experienced this energy level... but I wasn't as depressed either for so long as this time.
