I never had that problem with Effexor. The highest dose I ever took, though, was 75mg and I was mostly on 37.5mg. Cymbalta, another SNSI didn't exactly cause me fatigue but it did mean that I could and did nap during the afternoon or on the couch at night. I have read that nortriptyline enhancing drugs can cause fatigue in some people.

You might want to try a straight SSRI. Prozac is supposed to be pretty energizing.
