I had severe irritability problems after a few weeks on just 75 mg's of Effexor. It continued for months on the same dose.

My pdoc explained to me that Effexor always effects norepinephrine at a particular ratio. So, it's not as much at 75mg, but it still is there to a degree. A number of people on the board have brought this up as well.
