As an anticonvulsant, there are people as high as 20mg. Not saying that's a good thing, but trying to put it in perspective. And it may be hard to reduce if you decide to lower or stop in the future. I would suggest you try to see what the minimum dose is you need to improve and be functional. Like you suggest, you can try just skipping a day here or there. That's what I did. It's not recommended, but since the half life is so long, you might be able to get away with it. Hope this helps.
