You're right that carpal tunnel involves nerve compression in the wrist area; specifically the median nerve. However, the fingers involved are the thumb, index, middle, and sometimes inner side of the ring finger. The pinkie is not typically involved except in very severe cases. #1fan's symptoms sound more like compression of the ulnar nerve, which provides sensation to the pinkie and ring finger.

On the other hand, I think your recommendations are great, especially changing the arrangement of computer and keyboard to improve posture.
