In reply to Milnacipran worked good but..., posted by bleauberry on December 5, 2007, at 17:56:21
There are meds that can help with urination, bethanecol being the most common. You might see if taking one of them along with milnacipran would eliminate the problem.
> I tried Milnacipran 25mg first day. Doses in trials were usually 100mg to 200mg. Some have reported good effects at 50mg. Being supersensitive I was surprised I handled 25mg just fine. Maybe tiny bit of distant nausea and some restless sleep but that's it. Second day forward did 25mg twice a day. By day 3 it was already working. More energy, more talkative, more enjoyment of ordinary things. I was enthused with the promising start.

> But by day 3 a side effect that happens in about 20% of clinical trial patients happened...inability to urinate. Oh my. I had to go so bad it was painful. It hurt. As I forced and waited, I finally got a few dribbles after a couple minutes of shear effort. This went on for a couple days and I had no choice but to throw in the towel. It was a pretty serious side effect.

> Milnacipran is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor with a balance of 1:3. Effexor has a balance of 30:1, cymbalta 9:1. Milnacipran is almost an equal balance, touted as having few side effects and being a clean version of a TCA. Too bad it isn't at USA pharmacies. Too bad it caused me dysuria!
