I don't know how long it would take selegiline to kick in, but things I have seen suggest that effects are within a couple of hours, and that at the doses you stated, in would inhibit MAO-B at the rate of 80-90% percent for up to 2 weeks.
Thus, you can definitely take it only every other day or even less frequently. I have never taken it in oral form though, so I am only going on what I have read elsewhere.
Dr Joseph Knoll, the founder of selegiline, in fact recommends taking it at lower doses from every other day to once a week (depending on age) to improve longevity, memory, protect the brain from aging, and improve mood.
