If you look hard enough, anything can get you, but does it serve a purpose ? There are thousands of rare disorders.
Unfortunately I do suffer from a perplexing psychiatric condition that could be considered a "rare disorder" -- heightened visual and auditory awareness that includes a somatoform "constellation".
It is good that there are groups out there for "orphan disorders" (which sometimes have "orphan drugs")

etc.
But not all that is rare may meet the true test for a rare disorder. It may be a complex of psychobiological and psychological conditions.
One of the more "common" rare disorders that one hears of is PKU because some diet drinks have aspartame in them (I'm not going to get into an aspartame discussion....). Sucralose (Splenda) is an obvious better choice. (A can of regular pop has about 160 calories in it so it adds up...)
Anyhow, just an observation. Medical students sometimes get "medical student syndrome" of self-diagnosis.
