I have great success with the generics! I prefer the blue ones but usually end up with the peach ones (100mg each). However, I actually take 600mg a day! Yikes. I heard hear that the generic was weaker and I found that to be true. I swear I tried 400 and 500mg/day for a long time and I was still a mess, then after going to 600mg/day all's good. After 10 months I tried to titrate back down to 500 and it was still a horror show.
When I first started on it, I was also on an anti-convulsant so I thought maybe I was covered for any sezures. I never did have any. Then I had surgery to get rid of the problem that had me on an anti-convulsant and I didn't need them anymore. (Thank god). Now I am still on the 600mg and unable (and unwilling) to ween off, but I don't care. I am sticking with what works. I like having a life. I have been on 600 mg about 2 YEARS with no problems at all except trouble sleeping if I take it too late. I take 300mg all at once as soon as I wake up and a 2nd 300mg dose about 6 hrs later.
My GP gives me a regular 300mg/day Rx, and then I order another 300mg/day from whoever online. I also need to be on timed-release St Johns Wort with it as well or forget it, back to tears in that case as well. So here I am waiting for this program to stop working before changing anything. I am so rarely on here, because I am so undepressed these days (I should say months!). But since it was here that I heard that the Generics are weaker and may require a higher dose, I thought I'd pop in and give back. Funny, this sicussion was not far down on page one. Feel free to email me about this: sengels at optonline dot net, because I don't know when I will get back here. I am busy being productive. Cheers! Susan in NYC
