Well, When I started it I had just come off stimulants and had quit smoking. I didn't feel like offing myself so I thought it was helping. I wasn't great but something made me feel hopeful.
It did take 6 weeks to really get going and then it seemed to get progressively better. After maybe 5 months on the 6mg patch I felt like I was losing ground so I went up to 9mg. Again, maybe it was just hope but I seemed to feel better pretty fast. I have just passed the 2 month mark at 9mg and for the last couple of weeks I have been doing very well.
All in all-I would say it takes 6wks to start seeing what EMSAM can really do but from that point it gets better and better.
Are you taking any supplements? They really help.
if not, take a look at the alternative board and start a regime. At the very least it will give you some distraction until EMSAM kicks in.You might ask your dr. about samples or a script of Deplin. It is a form of folate that often increases peoples response to antidepressant meds.
Hang in there.
