This happened to me with Marplan in 1994. I had been on it with very stable results and then it was yanked out from under me precipitating another depression. So it can happen that quickly if and when a pharmaceutical company decides to stop making a drug because of a "business decision" (AKA poor sales).
I wouldn't be surprised based on what was being said about Emsam's costs and the poor sales associated with it. Hopefully if and when they do something like this notice is given ahead of time for adjustment but in my case, there was no other med that worked as well as Marplan did back then. Marplan has been rereleased now (10 years later)and I tried it with poor results so there's no saying the reformulation will work like the original med since usually another manufacturor is involved and the formula changes and never works the same way.
This is what happened with Nardil and it works very differently now then when manufactured by the original company.

P.S. I have two full boxes of Emsam 6 which I was on but I'm now n Nardil.
