In reply to Percocet/Vicodin Withdrawal--depression?, posted by clubfitter on September 10, 2007, at 22:21:56
If you are young, healthy, and strong, and weren't ever feeling the need to increase your Perc or Vic, you might be fine. But just in case ....
I have chronic back pain and because they are a CNS depressant, I've needed something w/ 'a lift' alongside them. But, I'm on 3x a day Percocet and a few mos back I was feeling 'a need to increase'. I instead found a neuroleptic was very helpful.
Due to how much I take daily, I'd need to be in a detox unit to quit. But, this is because we differ so in dosages. We could differ in other areas as well.
I'd speculate you'd feel some anxiety rather than depression if you begin this discontinuation. You might want to titrate over a few weeks; 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, and maybe line up 'a buddy' to help you, someone to 'talk with' if need be. You could post here as you begin this also. There are some very knowledgeable folks here to try and help you.
I'd not want to forget to say 'let a doc know you're doing this'.
admire ur courage, 5f
