Any STIMULANTS Dr. are willing to prescribe in US?

Does anyone know of any stimulants that doctors are willing to prescribe. I live in the US.
I realized that certain diet/energy pills that contain ephedrine help me with focus/energy/motivation. However, they may not be so safe. Is there anything i can suggest to my doc that would accomplish the same thing?
I have certain ADD symptom, though i'm not sure i have ADD and my doctor didn't even entertain the idea the one time i brought it up. However, FOCUS, energy, motivation are very lacking and i feel something has to give before it's my job.
