Yeah, Nardil is the MAOI that's most effective for anxiety problems. Some people say it's a miracle drug for social anxiety disorder. Some people have found the new formulation is less effective for them than the original, allegedly because the tablets dissolve too quickly in the stomach where most of the drug is then absorbed, instead of passing into the small intestine where most of the MAO-A lives. Therefore (so the theory goes) less MAO is inhibited with a corresponding loss of efficacy. There are ways around that such as putting the tablets into enteric-coated capsules so the Nardil survives the stomach and is released into the small intestine. Some compounding pharmacies will make up the old formulation of Nardil, although just yesterday a friend told me the compounding pharmacy he approached refused because (they claimed) the old formula was unstable and therefore the product would be unsafe. Many people find the new formula works just fine for them, but people do seem to be needing higher doses to achieve the same effect.
