In reply to Can i ask is 40mg the standard dose for Strattera?, posted by rjlockhart on July 24, 2007, at 12:37:00
Hi, you may be exactly where you should be, so that you can best tell whether any intolerable adverse reactions are about starting too high as opposed to this not being the med for you. Apparently, many ppl are better off starting low and going up slowly, and may never make it high enough to know what this med could have done for them otherwise. (The guy at crazymeds -- if that site's still there, didn't check -- talks about this.)
That was true for me. I was started at either 25 or 40, can't remember, and it was either way too much for me or maybe this med strongly disagrees with me. I had to stop even trying it after just a few days. In this particular anecdotal report, it's said that many more ppl would ultimately be helped by Strattera if their docs started them right where you are, and worked up more slowly.
Obviously this varies from person to person but the way you're doing it, is the "better safe than sorry" way. Good luck!
