I always went off Parnate cold turkey except for the first time I went off of it. Of course, I always went on a new AD after the washout. As soon as I started tapering the first time, I started feeling depressed, so I just stopped. I never felt any withdrawal symptoms that I remember. In your case, however, tapering may be a good idea. If you begin to feel depressed on the way, it may be sign that you should stay on it.
