But are the headaches supposed to be severe, unbearable pounding ones, lasting from 30 minutes to an hour of pounding pain?
I also wonder why my p-doc told me to go straight to the emergency room if I got a headache..
I mean, if they are just a side-effect, I doubt he would have told me to run to the ER in the event I got one.I understand you're also on Nardil, Brooke. How are you doing so far? What side effects are you having, and what's your current dose? Have you had headaches? If so, were they on the occipital area, and pounding, severe ones? Has your pressure gone down and have you had syncope or bad light headedness?
For me, the side effects I got so far are these:
(a) Syncope and sudden blurred vision/dizziness following a sudden physical effort (like going up the subway stairs, or getting up fast from a resting position.) I get up and feel very light-headed, almost about to lose it. I've fallen down a couple of times and hit myself--but not severely. It doesn't bother me too much because it only lasts like 10 seconds. Besides, I used to have syncope throughout my adolescence, so it's not that big of a deal really, as long as it's not too often or interferes with my job/school, which it hasn't.
(b)I feel sleepy and tired throughout the day. This is the most annoying side-effect so far. I'm hoping this is something that will go away eventually. It definitely interferes with my ability to study--I'm always falling asleep.
(c)Pounding headaches (on the higher 90mgs dose only.) Only on the higher dose--stopped on 60mgs. On 60mgs I just get a pounding chest/neck within 30 minutes of taking the medication. It comes with some anxiety, but not severe, and I take clonazepam for that.
The med seems to be working alright (not amazing but it definitely has done a great job), it's done something good for my depression, and I'm hoping it will get better with time, so I can't complain so far. It's not amazing, or the "golden standard" yet, as they say it is (or maybe they refer to the old Nardil) but it does help pretty well and I'm a lot less depressed and less anxious.
I'm hoping the side-effects will disappear with time too. At least that's what I heard happens to others. More than anything I hope the tiredness and daytime sleepiness (the most annoying ones) go soon. The syncope (which isn't as often) and the pounding heart don't bother me as much, so I can deal with them for now.
Thanks for responding and let me know how you're doing. I think we started Nardil around the same time, so it'd be nice to share how it's working.
Take care
