Halcion is triazolam, a benzodiazapine. It's most often prescribed as a sleep aid (hypnotic), but it is also similar in action to some benzos used for surgical sedation. It's used in dental surgeries, for example, as it works synergistically with local anaesthesia for pain control. It sounds like your pain doctor is offering you just the right way to manage this anxiety about the procedure.
