Success with dealing with social anxiety has been a long and slow procress that I first tackled back in 1987. Nardil (phenelzine), too, was the only relief I found after much trial and error with other therapies and meds. My most noticeable symptoms were palpatations, lack of concentration, word-loss, blushing, trembling, tachycardia, and sometimes fainting given enough exposure in group settings. I think enough years (19) on the phenelzine allowed me to free myself from the symptoms long enough to get accustomed to not associating them with social interaction. Growing older and not caring so much what I think others may be thinking has also played a role in dealing more successfully. It's costs are high - loss of friendships, relationships, careers, and life satisfaction, like many other conditions discussed on this web-page.
