>My pdoc has prescribed 500 mg x 2 per day of metformin (glucophage) for me to counteract the effects of the zyprexa weight gain. Apparantly, zyprexa raises insulin levels and and increases appetite/carb cravings so it is supposed to help in that area. I have noticed some dizziness with it but I thought that was due my withdrawal from prozac.>

Make sure to take it with food and drink lots of water while on it.>

I don't have DM, only a maternal uncle in fam of origin developed it as an adult. I have low blood pressure. I have chronic constipation since removal of Zelnorm from market.
I have current sugar cravings, then salt, back and forth.
I'm on a benzo for nervous system but no AD. I have TRD. Been on all ADs except MAOIs. I'm not bipolar (afa I know .. altho' I've seen the categories growing in number) or psychotic.
But, it seems I'm needing to give an atypical antipsychotic a shot, as I'm deeply depressed.
Mood stabilizers cause me headaches.
How are you doing NMK?
I'm on mountain time and I know it's late to be posting this. Wish I'd logged on earlier today.
Have an appt w/ Pdoc 8a in the morning, Wedsnesday morning. Then, not another Pdoc appt until August.
If any1 else sees this and can contact NMK, or has first hand knowledge of Metformin as well, would appreciate help.
Hope I pulled the above post from the right place by the right person, MLK.
